on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Nov 2009 Posts: 73 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2009 Posts: 73 | I have a '59 Spartan 100 with original 10 lug Budd style wheels. The old girl needs tires and I plan to replace the original steel wheels with later model aluminum wheels I picked up that came off a Peterbilt. The issue I have is the lug stud length does not appear to be long enough for the thicker aluminum wheels. Has anyone made this swap and if some what was your experience? I think the rears can be made to work using a steel wheel inner with longer studs. Comment and suggestions welcome. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 4,962 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 4,962 | A GM catalog will be worthless in this situation. You will probably have to remove the hub and remove a stud to get some measurements. The Euclid catalog is very helpful in getting longer studs. If you can find s parts house that still has a Euclid catalog and has some old enough to read it, you can probably find something. If you can't find anything, figure out if it is single or double ended and the diameter of the serration if it is single ended. Adding an inch or more to the present stud will allow for aluminums. Post the dimensions and I will get a Euclid part number. https://photos.app.goo.gl/pSSxrKBSxVU4QWpp8 | | | | | Joined: Nov 2009 Posts: 73 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2009 Posts: 73 | ok thanks crenwelge I will get some measurements. Are the Euclid studs still available? | | | | | Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 4,962 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 4,962 | Yes, Euclid is an aftermarket company now owned by Meritor. The wall charts were popular back in the 1980's, but part numbers have not changed and they can be be crossed to other brands. | | |
