Should the distributor on my '56 235 CI rotate when the engine is revved up. After I installed my new water pump I had the engine warming up. My son came out to look at it. I had him get in the cab and rev up the engine so I could watch the distributor. Even under fairly hard revving, the distributor did not rotate. It runs good on the road too. Does it really rotate under driving conditions but not by just revving it up sitting in the driveway? | | |

It should turn clockwise upon revving from idle.
I have had them fairly stuck before. Working them and cleaning stuff might loosen it up. Make sure you don't have a vacuum leak as well. But, if the engine runs so good you might not have a leak.
