Need some help in figuring out my Bellcrank set up. My original 1938 1-1/2 ton 216 was pulled and I installed a 1950 216. It seems that the return springs are hooked differently on the newer engine. I only have the 38 216 bellcrank to put on the newer 216. Will I need a later bellcrank set up to work with my pedals and linkage ? Thanks guys. Also will a 38 pick up radiator work in my 38 1-1/2 ton. Thank you.

I would think the throttle linkage would be very similar. I'm not familiar with the '38 setup, but the later AD trucks used a little sheet metal bracket under one of the pan bolts for the return spring. Here's a couple pics of the linkage on my engine for comparison.

Engines with an exhaust pipe that points straight down instead of angled toward the back usually have a different bellcrank attaching point on the block and slightly different-shaped linkage.
