But it just about ready for paint. I dont really want to spray the high build primer on the bare areas that I rubbed through to bare metal because I will have to sand everything again. Can I use a non sanding primer and then paint it. You will still have to sand them, but just lightly.

But sanding your primer spots as Phil says isn't a lot of work.
