Is it a direct bolt in or is some fab. work required? My '59 is in dire need of a better seat. Is the height about the same as the old '59 seat? | | | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 7,441 Bolter | | Bolter Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 7,441 | Rich, there is going to be some fab work to do, but your going to find that with every non stock seat you try. The S-10 seat has been used for many years as the go to replacement. Folks are beginning to experiment with 3 row seats out of later SUVs with some success. Many have the seatbelts built in. Take your measurements and head to the local Pick-a-Part yard.

I have a 1991 Chevy S10 that I was going to scrap so I'm definitely going to pull the seat first. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2018 Posts: 2,450 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2018 Posts: 2,450 | Chevies till Id Iv'e always thought the originals were comfotable, learned to cover them (at home) with kinda stiff canvas type material so you can slide on it a little. | | | | | Joined: Jul 2004 Posts: 2,991 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jul 2004 Posts: 2,991 | The original seats ARE comfortable, as long as the springs aren't broken or collapsed. I don't know the condition of the OP's seat, but that's the reason I need to repair or replace mine. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2019 Posts: 204 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Sep 2019 Posts: 204 | Could I fit a 1968 Chevy truck bench seat? I have a good one. My s-10 has buckets seats and I need a bench seat. As a last resort I can use the padding and burlap from the 68 Chevy, might even be able to use the cloth. I have hog ring pliers and rings. I could always hand sew the cloth to fit. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2018 Posts: 2,450 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2018 Posts: 2,450 | Rich's Toys Go to your local auto upolestry shop they should have springs new in burlap you can use to fix your seats. | | | | | Joined: Jul 2004 Posts: 2,991 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jul 2004 Posts: 2,991 | Thanks! I plan to look into that next spring, as the truck is currently in storage for the winter. But just weighing all my options for now. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2018 Posts: 2,450 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2018 Posts: 2,450 | Rich's toys You should put your seats on your bench and fix them this winter while your waiting. | | | | | Joined: Jul 2004 Posts: 2,991 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jul 2004 Posts: 2,991 | We'll see how much time is left after I finish the projects that are already in there! | | | | | Joined: Dec 2018 Posts: 2,450 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2018 Posts: 2,450 | Rich's Toys My posts are crazy illusive, suggested you should get them on your bench for the winter. Nice thing about AD seats they aren't hog ringed so you work on padding and springs pretty easily. Wife sews mine up,have cardboard patterns made from old seat covers so once they're sewed- up you can put em on anytime. Even learned to turn em wrong side out on beaters turn around and wear out passenger side before you junk em and start over. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2019 Posts: 204 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Sep 2019 Posts: 204 | Will a seat out of a 1955-1956 fit my truck? | | | | | Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,233 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,233 | Break out your tape measure...the '56 seat is 56" wide with the tape laying in the middle of the seat bottom and the cab is 61" door to door measured at the same place.
