Saw this for sale last Friday on craigslist. Called up the 86 year old retiring farmer and he said he's dropping the price because it's leaking brake fluid. I said "I'll take it". Drove out to get it today. After the seller filled the master with stop juice I drove it home 35-40 miles. He obviously had been doing this for awhile as he had a step stool ready and topped it off in less than a minute. He also guaranteed me that it would stop as long as I pumped the brake pedal. It was an interesting slow, but way slower than normal ride home. All the way I was hoping that no one would brake hard in front of me and I was always looking for a soft target just in case.
Here are the symptoms, 1st pump on the pedal nothing, second pump slight braking and 3rd pump great stopping power although pedal almost on the floor. Brake fluid leaking inside the cab directly below the pedal. My first plan is to rebuild or replace the master cylinder. Hopefully that is all it needs.
Anyway, here she is. Nothing to brag about, but it has a 350 V8, four speed with a two speed rear end, power steering and like new tires. Although it is little rough, I only need a work truck and not a show vehicle.

If it were me I'd replace all of the steel and rubber lines when I replaced the MC...those lines are 50 years old now and fail from the inside out...easy to do.

nice looking truck, and ditto on replacing all of the steel and rubber lines! I would also at least put kits in all of the wheel cylinders. I think I got the ones for my 58 from Rock Auto, for about 5$ per cylinder.
A complete brake rehab will be some of the cheapest life insurance you'll ever buy- - - - -both for yourself and the people who share the road with you. It will also keep some ambulance-chasing lawyer from taking everything you own in case of an accident. Jerry

Nice score. I see a brake job in your future, but it will be worth the money, time, and effort. Grandpa had a '63 C50, it was a cool truck to drive and operate. Mainly used it when the backhoe was needed.
