I rewired my 55 t bird ( with help) and am feeling froggy. How hard is it to rewire my c10? The wires are worn and have been altered many times, under the dash looks more like cob webs than wiring. I carry a fire extinguisher which may show my confidence level with it.
I think I can get the " painless " harnesses. Is this something a amateur like me could tackle? I've had the guage display out before and replaced face did not look to complicated.
It runs as is but it seems to be begging for attention.
Thoughts?

I would recommend a Speedway Motors harness instead though. Similar quality and much less expensive.
Just take your time. The wires are labelled. You will need to terminate them, but as long as you are comfortable crimping or soldering ends you should be just fine.
I got a set of those crimps with the low temp solder that melts when you shrink the tubing. Are those the ones you are talking about?
If so, I was not impressed. There was not enough solder in the joints to really wet the wires and make a good connection. I would not say they are any better than regular crimps.
I bought the cheaper universal painless wiring for my 64 c10 but after looking at them I decided to return that one and get the more complete and expensive one with plugs.
I'll let you guys know how it turns out
