My son and I picked up a “new” truck on Saturday. It’s a 1979 GMC 3/4 ton 4x4. It has a rebuilt engine and transmission, and, according to my old mechanic friend, the best drivetrain offer by GM! He was the one who rebuilt the stuff! I’ll have to research this one more! It runs great.

I purchased one of those (1/2 ton 4x4) brand new back in '79 when I was working at a GMC dealer. It was actually the same color as the dark blue on your truck.
Purchase price was around $7,800. Am sure there are wheel and tire combinations on new trucks that probably cost more than that today.
BTW, those mirrors, IMHO, are some of the best that GM ever offered on a LD truck. Their vertical orientation allows for a much fuller field of view than the horizontal ones that replaced them.

It is in better shape body wise for sure. 1972 C20, but I haven’t tried to revive that old 350 though. One day.

For the sake of clarity and accuracy , “patina” does not apply to that project truck.

Well , there are a lot of differing opinions on the subject of patina. I’ll tell you what I think is not patina: plain old thick scaly rust.
In the photo , the hood finish has worn down exposing the primer and even some bare steel. While the worn finish is not consistent , I would say that there are areas of true patina exhibited.
The Chevrolet emblem on the front of the hood on the other hand , is just plain rusted.
No offence taken! I would agree, it is a pile...😎😎 My 50s parts trucks are in better shape body wise. Many classified ads run the: “It has great patina! $5000!” Ummm....no. That truck is rotten and should be strictly for parts, and barely that... This truck is rotten too...
