For helping keep this great

on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jul 2001 Posts: 14 Junior Member | | Junior Member Joined: Jul 2001 Posts: 14 | I posted in the HiPo forum before I realized there was a big truck forum. I just bought a '52 school bus with a 135" wheel-base. It is only 19' overall but built like a tank. I think it is on a 2-ton chassis (just a guess.) It has a 2-speed rear axle (low and lower :-) The original 235 runs great even though the old gas smells like varnish. It has a 4-speed tranny with the brake on the shaft. This old baby is all original and NO rust-through anywhere. I want to either set in on a newer 1-ton chassis or replace the rear end with 1-ton and adapt the front end with pb, ps, 350 and auto. Any suggestions will be appreciated. I will have lots of big truck parts for sale when as soon as I figure out how I am going to upgrade.
Thanks in advance!
Jim

It had a 400 small block in it.
I've often wondered what happened to it, but that's a lot of years and nearly 600 miles away from here.
10 or 12 years ago Tom Mullen, the since deceased publisher of Rod & Custom built a F*** school bus based on a late 40's or early 50's truck (if I remember right...). It had the IFS from a modern 1-ton Chevy, a big-block and updated rear-end.
They shortened the body some if I remember right. Took the bus apart and put it back together with out some of the panels.
Clearly it made an impression on me because I remember it pretty clearly!
