Looks like they ran the pads to long and the rivets got the drums and they just put new pads and chewed the pads up. I wonder if the drums are available new or used. Gonna take them to get turned Monday so wish me luck. | | | | Joined: May 2007 Posts: 1,715 Moderator: 60-66 Trucks; North Eastern Bolters | Moderator: 60-66 Trucks; North Eastern Bolters Joined: May 2007 Posts: 1,715 | Drums all day long at your local auto parts store. If they turn them down to far, you could be stuck with no brakes. | | | | Joined: Jun 2021 Posts: 61 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Jun 2021 Posts: 61 | I am gonna tell them to not go down more than allowed. | | | | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,061 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,061 | Hy wickedinhere, there are two different front brake drums listed for 1967 C50 with Kelsey wheels, depending on which front axle is in your truck. Could you please tell us how many holes are in your brake drum? | | | | Joined: Jun 2021 Posts: 61 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Jun 2021 Posts: 61 | I think i have the 5000lb front axle drum looks like it has 12 holes and uses six holes that bolt to hub. I got the drums turned this morning at a big truck machine shop, the drums have never been turned so there was plenty of meat to turn.LOL drum | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,112 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,112 | Oh man they look amazing. | | | | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,061 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,061 | Hy wickedinhere, glad to read your front brake drums were turnable. Glad you got them worked. | | | | Joined: Aug 2010 Posts: 389 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Aug 2010 Posts: 389 | I have the 7000lb front axle which has 14x2.5" drums. They seem to be made of unobtanium :-( Been running them a bit oversize on my C60 since the '90s, I've never been able to find a pair.

When i got it all back together could not get a good pedal so i went and got the bleeder that hooks up to the compressor and bam that did the trick well worth the money. I am gonna bleed one more time then road test wish me luck.LOL | | | | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,061 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,061 | Hy wickedinhere, your picture of your assembled brakes appears to show two brake shoes with the same amount of lining on them. I believe your brakes should have a primary and secondary shoe setup. The primary shoe which mounts towards the front of the vehicle has shorter brake lining than the secondary brake shoe has. Please check to make sure you don't have one side of the truck with two secondary brake shoes and the other side with two primary brake shoes. | | | | Joined: Dec 2018 Posts: 2,451 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2018 Posts: 2,451 | wickedinhere Now if that shop can arc your shoes brakes will work like new ! I know you hate to see them grind away new lining but the ills of letting them wear-in are bad too ! | | |
