Anybody use one of the abs hood insulation kits from places like LMC and etc? Looking to get good and/or bad thoughts on them. A picture installed would be nice as well. Thank you in advance for your thoughts.

I used Dynamat 11905 peel and stick insulation under my hood. Mainly for cosmetic reasons.

Adamg Once got a gift truck that the hood was real heavy on,discovered they had undercoated it real heavy. Scraped that all off and had a dandy like new hood under there.

Did the A D trucks come from the factory with insulated hoods?

Hoods were not insulated. At least mine wasn't.

My 1948 3106 panel truck, and three 3104 1954 pickup trucks did not have hood insulation.

My 54/55 GMC 2-ton COE did not have hood insulation.

All were unmutilated (un "enhanced) - all with original equipment (no "upgrades/enhancements").

Thanks for the thoughts so far guys. I wasn’t trying to say that the insulation was stock to the trucks. Just wanted to see if anyone had used them and their thoughts on them. It was also possibly going to be a way for me to cover up a past”primitive” repair to the underside of the hood. I think I may have been able to work the area enough that it blends fairly well now. I was just curious on the insulation. Thanks

The only "insulation" that was on the hoods was between the rear hood brace and the hood sheet metal. It acted as an anti vibration/noise insulator. It wasn't very big.

I’m not home to take a picture, but in the attached photo you can see the corner of a self stick foil faced Eastwood XMat I used. I didn’t do any prep work so unfortunately most of it didn’t stick for long. Luckily, the hood crossbraces have kept it off the engine. I do think it reduced noice inside cab while it stuck. Not sure why though.
