V-8 in a 64 suburban with no fan shroud = overheating at idle, when ambient air temp is above 80 I got maybe 2 long red lights and I gotta dump the heat into the cab. Wife mad, kids mad, me hoping I didn't wait to long. Had enough of it. I'm sure a lot of you know with a V-8 in a 60's anything without a shroud the fan sits a country mile away from the radiator and just cavitates the air. However less than interested in puting plastic up there, I had a piece of about 20ga. Stainless and the will to do it....happy wife, happy life! I feel pretty lucky that I got it first try with no heavy duty math in thermodynamics. Just regular fabrication math....pie r squareed and stuff.just thought I'd show it off a little and mostly it functions beautifully
Good looking sheet metal work, but your shroud is a couple of inches too long. A shroud works best when it only covers half of the depth of the fan blades. I'd suggest trimming it back until the rear edge of the shroud is even with the blade hub where it bolts to the water pump pulley. Jerry

I'd be worried about having to make a block during winter if I get any more cooling out of it. This was meant to be a prototype and is just sorta rough fabbed and designed, however it functions way better than I anticipated. I'll eventually make a more aesthetic rendition for my Ole' Girl but I'm a huge "fan" of if it ain't broke don't fix it!
