The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Engine Shop Which water pump ?

Hi everyone, I just bought a 55.1 farm truck that's seen better days and beginning my learning curve on stovebolts. I'm a semi-retired motorcycle/import car mech. so not totally clueless mechanically but these 6 cyls are a new animal for me. The reason for this post is I could use some advice/knowledge on the proper water pump/fan combo for a 235 I picked up to put in this truck. The engine # comes back to a '57 BelAir with an automatic trans (I'm putting a T5 behind it). I was told that to make it work in this 55.1 truck that it will need a shorter pump. Is this correct and if so what pump should I get ? TIA :-)

Pre ‘68 Dave used to sell these on eBay, where I bought mine. I just checked and didn’t see where he had any for sale. I know that he originally designed this plate but now see Davis Speed Parts selling them on eBay. Maybe Dave is selling them thru Davis but I would rather to give my money to Dave, a great guy and a fellow ‘bolter, so I would send him a PM.

eBay fees etc forced me to pull my listing.

Has anyone experienced overheating problems with Dave's adapter? If not, getting down in the weeds about pump volume specifications sounds a lot like nitpicking. The proper fan position on the older trucks is probably at least as important as the volume of coolant that's being moved.
