Are you running Motor or Budd wheels? RH thread and LH thread or all RH?

Motor wheels use Flanged nuts like these with plastic chrome covers snapped on to make them look pretty.

Give us the part number of what's "out of stock" so we know what you're looking for...

Hy wickedinhere, "A" you didn't answer Mike's questions. "B" what is wrong with using your original wheel nuts?

Are the adapters made of aluminum or steel? If they're aluminum, you might be headed for trouble. Those things are built for show trucks, not for doing "real truck" stuff like hauling cargo.

Sounds a bit like that rolling circus sideshow we saw at Lebanon Tennessee a couple of weeks ago! Most of those things were just plain grotesque! Any machinist with a few brain cells to rub together can make custom nuts to any specification you give him.

This is what I think of when you say "acorn nut"...

https://www.mcmaster.com/acorn-nuts/

Are you sure your existing lug studs aren't 3/4-16 thread for the Budd stud piloted wheels?

This is what Budd wheel lug nuts look like...

Yeah it is and i am the clown paying for the big top. Sorry it doesnt meet your standards but its not like people havent done it before. I will probably just have the original lugs milled a bit to fit the adapter hole. Thanks for all Help

3B -- should we also discuss which Budd wheel inner nut to use when mixing steel and aluminum wheels/adapters???

John, you really had to be there- - - -1/2 ton pickups from the mid-1980's with the rocker panels about 3 inches off the ground, running polished billet aluminum 10-lug Budd 24 inch wheels with pointy lug nut covers 6 inches long! And somebody did that on purpose???????

That's right. people have done it before -- lots of people. And those wheels should look right at home on your truck. I like the idea of the super singles. THAT you don't see so much yet. I won't be putting them on *my* truck anytime soon but I will enjoy the pictures of your truck when you get this altogether smile

And about Hotrod Lincoln ... stick around here and you'll find, as many of us have, that he is very generous with his knowledge, experience, skill, capability and ... opinions wink All of which he has in copious amounts. He'd be the first one to your house with his van full of parts, tools and whatever else to help you with a problem. Look past this minor difference of aesthetic opinion and you will find a true friend with gobs of knowledge. Besides, you're both Southerners. Imagine what *I* have to go through with him being not just a Yankee, but a darn Yankee (Born and bred Northern New Englander now living south of the Mason-Dixon line) ...

To fully understand what I am talking about, you *HAVE* to read this -- this is what happens when you simply invite Jerry to ride in your truck. He hears a strange noise (that none of the rest of us do) ... and , well, the Tech Tip happened after that....

The truly great thing about Jerry is that we *never* have to wonder what his opinion is or what he's thinking .... smile Today, you are on the opposite side. Welcome to the club!! There's a lot of us in here!

So, did you ever figure out what type of nut you're looking for?

Lug piloted Budd nuts for the adaptors and Motor Wheel flanged nuts for the hub piloted Alcoa's?

Left or Right thread?

It's hard to help when we don't really know what you're looking for...post some pictures of what you have and what you need.

Is the adaptor made to go from Stud Piloted (original hub/wheels) to Hub Piloted or Stud Piloted Alcoa's?

The adaptor should be made to except your original lug nuts for holding it to the hub. Then you'll use the correct size nuts to hold the Alcoa's to the adaptor. Contact the company that made the adaptor to confirm you have the right parts...I would NOT machine a nut to fit, that would remove it's strength and holding capacity.

OK so i said i need acorn nuts but i need nuts just like the stock one from my truck but just slightly small. The flange on the nut is just a tad to big so unless i can get a nut like in the pic with a total diameter of 1-1/8 i will either have to mill the adapter holes slightly larger or the nuts smaller. I will probably do the adapter but the machinest will make that decision. Pics included are the stock truck nuts 11/16-16 my adapters and my super single wheels.klh

Those are "Hub Piloted" to "Hub Piloted" adaptors...

If it were me I'd call the adaptor vendor and get the adaptors machined to fit the stock 1-1/8" wide flange nut or have them provide the correct nuts. Are the holes drilled for 11/16" studs?

Do they advertise this adaptor is for your truck, or are you just making it fit?

All 11/16" flanged lug nuts that I've found are 1-1/8" wide...what nuts do they recommend to fit their hole even if they don't sell them?

I haven't read everything but by looking at the pictures it looks like he has a 14x22.5 wheel and an adapter to put it on something with 10 lugs. I would assume he wants to put 445/50R22.5 tires on whatever he is building. He doesn't need acorn nuts. He needs 33mm lug nuts if that is the case. That is the standard of the industry these days. I have buckets full of them laying around. They can be bought at any truck dealer. Even Amazon has them.

https://www.amazon.com/20-Pack-33-Wheel-Nuts/dp/B01G606AGK

If he wants acorns on them, they can be bought at any chrome shop. I have lots of them around. I make the drivers remove them because it is hard to tell of the lug nut is coming loose. And I want my drivers to look professional, not like kids that just fell out of truck driving school. This may be what he is referring to as acorn nuts.

https://zips.com/parts-detail/unite...F-SY7W7bvBmSzfhactVcbx0OJyhoCe-4QAvD_BwE

As far as the adapters being aluminum, if they are quality made there is nothing wrong with them.

Conmet aluminum hubs have logged millions on top of million miles.

Yes 33mm for the 22.5 wheels. The truck takes 11/16-16 that bolt the adapter to the hub and then 33mm nuts to bolt the semi wheels to the adapter. I brought the adapters and lug nuts to the machinest today and he said there is enough meat on the nuts to mill down to fit the adapters. So we are good on that for now. Thanks

I think I now get the picture of what you are trying to do. But I'm still confused what your are having machined. An 11/16-16 flange nut is a common lug bolt. It is Dorman 611-043. Is it that the flange won't fit in the hole of the adapter. If that is the case cutting a little off of the flange won't hurt anything. You will be removing the 33 mm flange nuts if you remove the wheels so you can put Loctite on the threads of the 11/16-16 nuts. Google Dorman 611-043 and you will find quite a few vendors who have them on hand. Did you buy the adapters as a stock item or were they custom made. I run 445/50R225 but I don't know that I would care for them on a bob tail. However these things would work for duals as well as singles.

I am machining a little off the 11/16 lug nuts so they fit in the hole on the adapter. I ordered the 33mm lug nuts which require no machining.LOL This is my first time with these trucks adapters and semi wheels so its a learning experience.

It's hard to believe the maker of the adaptor didn't research the diameter of the 11/16-16 Flange nut to make sure they machined the hole to fit the nut...poor quality control on their part.

It is what it is! They at least milled the holes big enough for the 1-1/8 socket to fit. There may be a lugnut that does fit the hole and if so its probably a special order and hard to get

I'm normally not a fan of the kind of modifications you are doing, but this one actually looks really good. I see it has a 5th wheel. Does it have air brakes or is it air over hydraulic.

There is a '62 2-ton in a local junkyard that I just took the rear wheels off of. I can go grab the lugs out of the dirt if you want them, but they're kind of cruddy.
