How do I tell a one ton chassis from a one and 1/2 ton chassis?
Assuming I'm looking at a rolling chassis, no sheet metal, model numbers, etc.
Seller says it's a one ton, no reason to doubt, except I want to try to be sure.
I know to measure wheel base first. If it's 137, then what next, 8 vs. 11 leaf springs?

'37 GMC T-18 w/ DD 4-53T, RTO-610, 6231 aux., '95 GMC running gear, full disc brakes, power steering, 22.5 wheels and tires.
'47 GMC 1 ton w/ 302, NP-540, 4wd, full width Blazer front axle.
'54 GMC 630 w/ 503 gasser, 5 speed, ex fire truck, shortened WB 4', install 8' bed.
'55 GMC 370 w/270, 420 4 speed, grain, dump bed truck from ND. Works OK.

The 3/4 and 1 ton GMC rear frame is narrower than the 1/2 ton GMC. Over all frame would be longer on the 3/4 and 1 ton GMC's unless the 1/2 ton was ordered with a longer bed. Regardless the 3/4 and 1 ton GMC's frames are narrower than the 1/2 tons. 3/4 ton GMC's have 16" wheels in 1946, Chevy 15" in 1946, both 8 hole.

I asked about the year, and gmc vs chevy, and he wasn't sure. He said he would check and might have the info, but I wouldn't bet on it.
I think the wheels and engine are gone, and he won't have info on either. He assured me it was indeed an advanced design model, one ton,
1950 to 1953. This is a bare chassis. He said the front was intact, and the axles were off in the rear. Probably all I have to work with other
than seeing it, and measuring what ever I can. Thanks for the responses!
