For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Oct 2004 Posts: 11 Junior Member | | Junior Member Joined: Oct 2004 Posts: 11 | Seems like I read somewhere that my 1952 2 ton came with a choice of only two, two-speed rear ends. Does anyone know if this is true and what the gear ratios of the choices was/is? I've owned a similar size IHC and they used Eaton rear ends and had numerous choices for their 2-speeds. Thanks for the help. | | | | | Joined: May 2001 Posts: 7,438 Extreme Gabster | | Extreme Gabster Joined: May 2001 Posts: 7,438 | According to the reprint of the Chevrolet Truck Shop Manual 1948-50 2-speed axles had 6.13 & 8.10. It doesn't show ratios for '51-up so I would assume nothing changed. 2-tons with 1-speed axle were 6.17. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2002 Posts: 2,549 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2002 Posts: 2,549 | Only one Two speed rear axle was available in Chevrolet Advance Design Trucks, & that was a Timken 6.13 - 8.10 , GMC's came with several different Eaton 2 spd.'s depending on the series. If you have a Eaton, chances are it's out of another truck. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2006 Posts: 1 Junior Member | | Junior Member Joined: Jun 2006 Posts: 1 | heelo again--you recently answered my parts wanted add for a 48 chev rear axle--i was wondering if you had one or knew of any other make than ran these rearends. also i was wondering why they are so hard to find. anything you have can tell me about them is greatly appreciated | | |
