Thanks

I build my own 1-wire alt's some rotor and stator combos prime at a lower RPM than others, Hopefully you can get a set that will prime then charge at idle. I have one that is double belted for idleing a lot works good ! Kinda tight on fan clearance. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 295 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 295 | I have a double pulley on my already as well one belt for water pump and the other for the p/s . Going to start with a new battery see what happens and I did tighten up the alternator belt I pulled it back about 2 inches new the p/s isn’t grumbling as much either.

Increase the belt wrap (% of pulley covered by the belt) with an idler pulley. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 4,095 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 4,095 | I have a 54 235 with an alternator and it would not keep the battery charge because I had 273 gears and around town, the RPMs were not high enough to activate the alternator. I bought one through Jegs that kicks on as soon as you start the engine. I think it has to be over 1400.

So the other Rochester I put on idle is not that great but will idle when I push the gas pedal to move the truck it pops a lot from the carburetor the more I push the gas pedal it smooths out a bit . What should I look at he vacuum advance screw something inside the carburetor like the jet size, the accelerator pump, It was pretty cool the truck just started right up after sitting a couple of week no choke just a couple pumps on the gas pedal. Feel like I’m a little closer to get rid of my carburetor issues.

A cold engine needs a little choking to start consistently, especially as the weather gets cold. If the engine will cold start without choking it's WAAAYYYY too rich. Jerry

It takes a lot of road miles and careful documentation of gas mileage to justify a jet change. Jerry

Did I experience vapor lock? Have a spray can cap as gas cap for now and I don’t have the heat plate under ti intake with tube to header . Should have left the 216 intake manifold and exhaust manifold on it was running great forgot engine has a new fuel pump new vacuum advance line new fuel line from pump to carburetor

(1) Dead condenser (especially if it is new) (2) Clogged fuel filter (3) Clogged sender in fuel tank
Hopefully, you find it.
