is DEA516983 it of course says it a 46.
My id plate on the truck has a different number,
8PWL5829. It also shows GVR at 15,000 lbs.
Even on a big truck shouldn't the number on the title match the one on the id plate?

Do you still have the orginal motor?
The other number looks right, but I don't have my VIN code book handy, so I can't intrepret it right now.
-8 is where it was made.
-P is the year.
-W is the model. Usually the two letters are associated with each other in the vin keys you'll find. They use a different year letter on big trucks than on small. I don't know why.
-L is the month, December in this case.

| | | | | Joined: Jun 2000 Posts: 454 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jun 2000 Posts: 454 | Using the Deciphering Your Chevy VIN and the Series and Model Codes tech tips here on the 'bolt (doesn't anyone leave the Forums  ), the ID breaks down like this: 8 - Built in Atlanta, GA PW - 2 Ton L - Assembled in December As kb and Steve pointed out, many jurisdictions titled these old trucks using the engine serial number rather than the truck ID number. Could be problematical if the engine is ever swapped out. You might want to see what it would take to get your title "corrected" (never tell DMVs that you want to "change" something) to match the ID plate.

I ordered one and they had it to my house in less than a week.. but it was for CARS. I called them again, told them dude.. I have a two ton truck, not a car.. oh geeze i'm sorry lemme send out a new one. I got ANOTHER one for cars.
