I have a 1954 chevy 3100 with original 235 and the carb has given me fits. The air fuel adjustment at the base snapped off when I was trying to dial it in. Is there a bolt on replacement that might be a better option than the Rochester? I was reading Carter ya 966 was a good option but wanted to verify. Also where can one be purchased? Thanks

Matt

Hey, Matt.

Think I answered you on one of the FB groups... look for Carter YF 2101S for the '54. The 966S was spec'ed as a replacement for the 235 through '52. Probably work, but the newer spec carb should be a better match. They pop up on eBay from time to time - there are 3 or 4 cores listed now - but nothing that looks great at the moment.

You might want to post to the Swap Meet "Parts Wanted" forum.

Cheers,

Doug

The 2101S is an auto choke as I recall. Some people (me in that group) prefer that type, but some want the manual choke and if that's what you want the 2100S is the one you could search. It is also possible some of the Carter manual choke carburetors made for the 230 could work for you. I've got two of those listed in the parts for sale section (YF 4145S models).
