1955 Chevy first series 6400. Does anyone have a source for the air filter that's inside the back corner of the cab and filters the air for the hydrovac. Thanks guys
What does your filter look like on a 1955 truck? The filters on the deco model trucks have a horsehair filter that can be cleaned and reused as necessary.
Yes Mike, looks like a breather cap. Sits in the passenger rear cab corner. No filter in it when I pulled it out so I don't know what the filter should look like. I need to go back through my master parts catalog and look for it again. My neighbor has a horse so I may pay it a midnight visit with some scissors. Lol
Paul WNC I think you'll find that that is hog hair,at least that's what they called it 60 yrs. ago. Could get it out of an old rusted out air cleaner or oil fill cap.Somewhere I saw a paper filter like a lawnmower on that. It's good to protect your booster,mine likes a drink of hydraulic jack oil-specially right before cold weather. They then make a special noise when they're happy !!

It may be hog hair...I am not a hair follicle expert by any means! It is some kind of hair though.
Ironically, I was just cleaning out an old but incredibly clean 1942 hydrovac filter the other day and happened to take some pictures and thought they add to the conversation.
