I was working at a shop last week and this was in the yard. Is this a big bolt ? I thought it was a neat old truck.

Um, heck YES. That front end appears to be interesting .... is it a 4WD by any chance?

That 1959 100 Series is a beast! Looks like it's got the optional 9000 pound front axle with the optional 10-lug on 11.25" bolt circle disc wheels...VERY HD for it's time.

Would have come with the 348 engine.

That is a nice looking truck. I wish our 6400 had an additional step like that one. I have not seen that step on anything as small as our 2 ton, but sure would be easier to get in.

I got some non-factory steps on my GMC 373 grain truck from ND, no mfg. marks on them, pretty handy, powder coated ready for reinstall, I’ll take a picture tomorrow. Hard to duplicate from pictures, though. Might Google?

I believe those are stock on 58-59 but not on the earlier ones. My 58 6400 has them, but not my 55. The fenders are wider on the 58.

Running Boards are stock on all 1956-59 5000/50, 7000/70, 9000/90 and 10000/100 Series Chevrolet trucks.

They were optional (RPO 423) on the 1956-59 4000/40, 6000/60 and 8000/80 Series.

All of the TF 2-1/2 ton Chevrolet trucks had the extra wide fender flares...

Thanks for the info, Mike B! I am assuming the ones for a 55-57 6400 are a bit different than for a 58-59 6400, right? I don't think the ones from my 58 will bolt onto my 55 and line up on the fenders properly.

I've never seen running boards on a 4000, 6000 56/57 truck, but per the parts books they all use the same actual running board 56-59. the only thing that would change would be the mounting hardware and fender extension panel.

I assume the 4000, 6000 Series had some sort of a brace to support the front corner of the board since the fenders weren't designed to have Extensions Panels, but can't confirm as I've never seen one (VERY rare).

got it, the extension panel is what I am thinking would have to be different (at least on the 6000 series).

I don't think the 4000, 6000 Series would use a panel extension like the 8000, 10000 used, as the heal of the stock fender curves down into the rocker molding (nothing to bolt to). I'm thinking the smaller trucks would have used a piece of strap metal as a front brace, bolted to the fender lip and outer corner of the running board, but that's just a guess by me.

fixite7, when you post something wait at least 15 minutes before you assume it is not there and start posting repeatedly that it’s not there. The issue is with your internet service or your computer skills not Stovebolt. Thanks

Also, the rear duals appear to be way too wide, but it might just seem that way since they are so close to the front wheels.

20 Mercman Not seeing what you call an additional step, have noticed you have to kinda slide out and hit the ground. It's alittle hard on the upholstery edge. I've been stdying on a place for a handle. Had 2 in a ton 72 with a metal ceiling,I like to kinda hang on !

Mike, Yes, we're just talking TF trucks (4, 6, 8 & 10 series). The actual running boards are the same 1956-59 but the extension panels are different between 56/57 and 58/59 due to the shape of the fenders.

Csims,

Sorry I forgot the step pictures, they were being powder coated. Truck came from ND, looked like an accessory tag was on there at one time, definitely not factory. Lots of this kind of stuff was manuf. in Minn. for farm use. Steps work well, I’ll put them back on when running.
