Hi, I am looking for a source for the "fish-eye" beige paint for a '46 truck. Last I new jim carter's had it under code PT106 but it is no longer listed on their website. Anyone have any luck on substitutions? Thanks for any help!

Someone several years ago here on the SB recommended Rustoleum Hammer tone Dark Bronze as a substitute paint for the dash and related interior parts. I used it a few years ago and compared the color and texture to remnants of the original paint found on a few pieces of my ‘46 project. It was a very close match.

Attached is a photo of the paint can and recommended mix from Rustoleum. The representative I talked in getting some other questions answered suggested a 3:1.25 paint to xylol for spraying. That mix combination worked well.

Also attached is a photo of the painted dash.

JC uses PT133 as a replacement for PT106.

Call 800-862-1913 and ask them the difference in the 2 paints.

That dash came out really nice, I think that is what I will do when it comes time to paint, thank you for adding the mix ratio as well.

Note:
The mix ratio was incorrect and the post edited to report the correct:

3:1.25 paint to xylol.

That paint color is also available in rattle can. For some reason using it as a touch up over the mixed version didn’t work well for me. In installing one of the garnish molding parts I managed to scratch it. I figured the rattle can would be a quick remedy. Not so. It blistered. The part needed stripped again and a complete do over.
