Hi all,

I have a line on a dump box from a TF truck

Has anyone added a dump box to a frame that did not have one originally? I have a 3600, but am curious if I would have to cut out cross members to make this work? I will be pulling the transmission in the near future, so adding the pto can be done then, but I won't bother if it's too evasive to do.

Hy Goach2, it looks like the frame for the dump box hydraulics is sitting inside the frame of the truck it is on, we can't see both sides of it from your picture, but if it the same on both sides it may have to be removed with a cutting torch. I've never seen one like that before, most dump frames sit on top of the trucks chassis, not inside of it, I'd steer clear.

Thanks 3B, I was thinking the same, plus my frame has the wheel 'hump' and I don't know how it would work with this set up. Is it worth grabbing the hydraulics? Or just wait for something complete AND compatible?

You could look into one of the modern electric over hydraulic systems like this one. By the time you buy a PTO to fit your SM420 and rebuild an old hydraulic pump system you may be money ahead.

Goach2 Made a 4 ton dump box out of oil tank steel for my 48 2 ton,not easy but works fine. Tank steel never forgets it was round but you can overcome that with your torch and arc weldor.

Goach2 Put on a picture of my 51 6400 daily driver,maybe you saw it. My posts disappear a lot,Martin says trouble is with my computer I think he is right. Im no 'puter gooroo ! If I can get a handle on pictures will show that bed. If not could maybe send you some phone pictures,they PM but not sure how to do that either. My 51 6400 has a tank steel bed too,picture is not very good.
