Shift repair kit

Novak lists these as compatible with SM420 with most vendors listing them as a Jeep item.

Wondering if this might tighten up the severe shifter waggle on the 4 speed.

I bought one some time back, it helps, the shifter boot most of all it seems as it fits tightly on the shifter tower and aligns itself using the pin protrusions.

In my experience, it is always the pins that the lock ring attaches to that are worn or loose in the cover that gives you a sloppy shifter.

Is that a replaceable part?

I believe there are over size pins available. I made my own on my lathe.
The cover, where the pins should be a light press fit often get wallered out.
