Mine was tired as well. The reflectiveness inside was gone. When I restored my 51 I added the optional side bullet lamps AND added a second Door lamp to the right door.
Used standard dual filament sockets and 1157 bulbs in those housings. Used some shiny foil Behind the door lenses to improve reflectivity.
