Finished our 53 truck earlier this year and gave it to my FIL for his 75th birthday. He loves it save one problem. It floods very easily and after two carb rebuilds we believe the Rochester Bs are shot. The 235 has been rebuilt. Offenhauser intake is in great shape no leaks. So looking for the best alternative new carb that we can install on the 235 duel carb set up. Any recommendations on carburetor and orJet sized correctly?
Several threads discuss this topic. But nothing definitive around the jet size or carburetor type. I want to keep the dual carb set up car remains at 1000 feet of elevation.

2 carburetors made for a much smaller engine are going to be your only real hope here, Dad. I'll leave it for others to tell what carburetors have worked for them, but 2 Rochester Bs are in my opinion like taking a butter knife to a gunfight. If you didn't straighten the castings on the Rochesters, they're extremely likely to run very rich and flood all the time. And even if you did straighten them, the Rochester B by nature is...well, I'll stop here. I was taught to try to say nice things whenever possible, so let me end with this: Rochester Bs are carburetors. They were made by GM and possibly designed by Nikita Khrushchev after too much vodka. And remarkably thousands of them are still in use today.

Two carbs for a Jeep CJ-3 flathead 4 cylinder will have approximately the right volume capacity to work as a synchronized pair on a 235 engine. You will need to do some modification of the bolt spacing on the manifold as the flange size of that carb is a little narrower than the Rochester B. Brand new "clones" of the original Carter carb are available on Ebay. They're nowhere near the quality of the original equipment Carter carb, but the engine will probably run on them much better than with the Rochesters. Jerry

Consider purchasing a pair of adapters from Tom Langdon over at Stovebolt Engine Co. Then get a pair of rebuilt Holley/Weber 5200 carbs for a 1974 Ford pinto. These are progressive two bbl carbs with a small primary and a large secondary. Ford licensed the design from Weber. They run really well right out of the box in a dual set up. Langdon has new Weber 32/36 carbs which are essentially the same carb. He also has linkage sets to make it all work. It’s a pretty good set up. All new parts.

Had just finished making a fuel control valve for a Carter YS (underwater carburetor), and was maybe more grumpy than normal
