The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Paint and Body Shop 41 headlight springs

I'm working on the headlight assembly for the 41 and need help with the springs. As you can see, the springs are rusted and the brackets are riveted in.

What have you done or recommend to repair these? I don't know if springs are even available - haven't searched for them yet.

If you can't find replacements, dunk the whole assembly in Evaporust to get rid of the rust, paint them and move on. They don't look that badly rusted to me.

Looks like the ends are broken off .there is one type on eBay but at 12 bucks looks like some newer springs look similar but better price but you would have to compare them. Some pics for comparison .

Thanks for the leads! Looks like I will be able to make one of these work. The non-hooked end is riveted into the bucket and I was reluctant to drill out the rivet without knowing what direction to go in.

I had to remove the rivets from the headlight bucket to the housing yesterday to straighten out both parts. They got "rearranged" somewhere along the line in the last 80 years. They're now ready to go back together, but I'll change out the two springs before assembling. Might as well do the passenger side too.....while I'm at it. You know how that goes....
