Currently building a tubular steel run stand for a 235 and assembling parts and pieces. To avoid robbing my foot stomp starter (6 volt starter in 12 v system ) off the truck I am shopping for a used starter. I have a spare bellhousing off an early 60`s 235 engine. My question is: Can I mount any 235 Chevy starter either with foot stomp or electric solenoid for this application? It may be a little less convenient to use the stomp switch vs an electrified solenoid but will either work?

Yes, cars with 235 engines used a solenoid type starter up through 62. Trucks 60 through 62.

I used a stomp switch to turn over an engine sitting on a tire. I put a flip switch between the battery and coil to kill it.

Another quality post.
