New tie-rod ends, drag-link ends, king pins, and the steering box rebuilt will make a huge difference in how they drive and steer. Tire air pressure and tire width also makes a difference. If you choose to go with P/S, the linkage and king pins still need to be rebuilt. Someone will come along with the parts you will need for the upgrade, I have seen Toyota gear boxes mentioned but I don't know for what years. There are ways to add the power assist with out cutting the truck apart. Rack & Pinion on straight axles don't go together, it really makes for some less than ideal steering columns. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2011 Posts: 5,096 Crusing in the Passing Lane | | Crusing in the Passing Lane Joined: Jun 2011 Posts: 5,096 | There is a somewhat new power steering box that mounts in the existing location, existing mount bolt holes, gold colored steel mount plate, look in CPP, Classic Parts, some other places. Need to install pump on your own.
