The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Paint and Body Shop Hood Brace Rods??

I am trying to align my hod and fenders and I came across a reference to “hood brace rods.” This was from a post from a 1954 Truck Shop Manual. Unfortunately my truck is a 1947 AD 3100. I don’t have these braces it doesn’t mean they weren’t there at one time.
Does anyone know if these rods were an original part on a ‘47 or were they a later part? Just thinking they help stabilize the hood front.

Here is the “Front Fender Brace & Bracket Instructions” from the “47-54 Truck Factory Assembly Manual” and doesn’t say specific what years have these braces. Not positive but I believe all AD trucks came with them but there is an easy to tell if you truck originally came with them. Look at the firewall on both sides of the tunnel for two bolt holes on about 1” apart in the horizontal direction with captured nuts behind them. If you have that, you need the braces. I posted a picture of where mine are located. My truck didn’t have them either.

They were original on my 48 GMC and my late 47 GMC. My 46 Chevy 3/4T has these rods but are a different shape and they go to the radiator not the fenders.
