Here's the setup - these are new front motor mounts (V8-283) you've probably seen the type. There is a bracket that bolts to the frame crossmember & brackets that bolt to the front of the block a threaded & shouldered stud passes up to connect the two. This stud has collars & rubber cushions on both ends of it.
So far so good?
Here's the question - How the heck do I tell when they are tight enuff? No spec in the shop manual. Can't really run a torque wrench on them even if there was a spec 'cause the rubber cushions just compress!
Seems like the submarine force dictum for proper torque (i.e tighten it down until it strips then back it off halfa turn) might not apply here.
I tightened them up just to the point of beginning to compress the cushions as indicated by a barely distinguishable bulge (by feel - can't see the bulge).
Is this good or what?
