The 261 engine I have on the bench will not pump oil to the internal parts of the engine. Bench testing the pump; it shoots oil out 2 feet using and electric drill, but will not send oil to rocker arms and bearings when installed in the block.
Is there an oil relief valve on 261’s ? if so, where is it? I removed and cleaned the spring loaded valve (?) on the oil pump and it slides smoothly.
So, why no oil being pumped to the interior of the engine??
Any thoughts or help appreciated.

With lots of time and money, any Stovebolt can be restored.
It looks like you have a 1959 261 from your other posts. Are you using an oil filter? Is the pin in or out on the side of the block? If the pin is in you must use a full flow filter to get any oil through the engine.
The pin is in. I have a full flow filter and installed it today. Engine is on a test block. Started engine. Oil now flowing out of all rod bearings and cam bearing as well as the small tube curving over the rock arm shaft. Installing the full flow oil filter did the trick. Thanks for the great advice Dave. With the dowel pushed in, the two large pipe thread ports MUST be connected, either by a flex hose, some type of hard pipe, or a full flow filter. Pushing the dowel in prevents oil flow from the pump from getting to the engine- - - -it must flow from the lower large port to the upper, either with a plumbed connection joining the two ports or a filter capable of flowing enough oil volume to supply all the engine's lubrication needs.
