I have an old friend that really knows his way around old cars and trucks. He can't get my 54-3100 235 running smooth. He noticed that the rotor button is loose on the shaft. When I was in the parts business a customer came in with the same problem, we found out that we had sold him an International 6 cyl. button, which fits a Chevy but is a little loose. I just spoke with the Jim Carter folks and John said this is a fact. I have a NOS original GM condenser, but I would like to get the capacitor that one of the Stovebolter's makes. Who is it? Doc.

That thing rides close to the terms. in the cap. It only turns half as fast as the engine but at high rpm it could wobble enough to contact one & thats were you will be.

| | | | | Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,740 Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) | | Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,740 | As a temporary fix only, shimming the gap between the rotor and the shaft will move the tip AWAY from the cap contacts a few thousandths of an inch, and also stabilize the wobble. Shade tree fixes are usually more effective than some folks think.
