Anyone have one or know where I may find one?

My 2136477 has a cracked water jacket ...

Been looking for one around here for quite a while. Checking one last time before resorting to getting something shipped in from out of state.

Other casting numbers (for GMC engines with domed pistons) that would also fit: 2193417 or 6107412
edited - I used the wrong reference to get the list of dome piston compatible interchanges:
2136477 DOMED SMALL PORT
2193417 DOMED BIG PORT
6107412 DOMED SMALL PORT

NOT this one - it is for FLAT pistons: 2194819
2194819 FLAT SMALL PORT
2193983 FLAT BIG PORT

Mac,

If you are looking for a head, you should place a post in the parts wanted. You will get more people responding.

Also, if you have specific questions on the heads, that should be placed into the Engine Forum.

I understand that you are looking local, but you will get more assistance if you split this up. As a guy looking for a 261 head, it is worth having whom ever you buy it from magnaflux/clean the head prior to purchasing. If it is good, pay the $50 since you will need to do that anyway. If it’s bad, you just saved shipping and the purchase price!

Thanks Chris - but I've had a post in the parts wanted channel for a while. Posting here in the Texas forum is my last effort at trying to source one by directly getting my eyes and hands one one. Seems like it's not gonna pan out though. I know where I'll get it from "remotely" if somethin doesn't turn up here in our back yard soon...

And thanks everyone so far for the ebay and oldgmctrucks links. But I know about those, and how to find "whats on the net". If there's one here in a Texas neighbor's back yard, please lemme know.

Mac, still looking for a 2136477?
I just picked up a 1951 228 and would be willing to part with the head.
Let me know if you're interested and I can have it disassembled, hot tanked, and magnafluxed -
And for shipping, I recently sent an 848 head to Chris via Fastenal for what was it, like $150?
GMC probably weighs a little more, but shouldn't be a huge difference.

BTW Chris, you got that 261 running yet?

Cheers guys,
Mark

Buying and selling should take place in the Swap Meet or in Private Messages.

Tim, you beat me to it!

Mark, yes, it was about $150. I get the 261 back this week. It stalled a bit due to the wonderful weather here. It’s sitting 10 miles from me. They are drilling the 2 steam holes and 2 adapter holes today/tomorrow.

BTW, I would PM MacX directly.

I’ll send pics once painted.

As long you are in touch via PM, you are good!

Mark,

You will be the first person I send pictures/video to!
