Has anyone added a fuel filter to there trucks? If so, did you put it out of site? I'm thinking of putting one on my 46 just because, and would like to here some input. I have a few glass fuel bowls laying around ,and was thinking of putting it right into the carb. Seems it never had one on it. Now being retired , trying to catch up on things I never had time for!

Yep. My 261 has 1 in front of carb and my 305e has 1 under cab right where fuel line exits. Highly recommended 👌

I have a metal inline filter before the pump and the original glass sediment bowl with filter at the carb, I get very fine debris in the glass bowl.

Good, Glad to here, just thought it may be a good idea to catch some of the sediment before it hits the carb.

It also helps protect the fuel pump. I have a cheap plastic one just below the tank (due to a bit of a rust in the tank) and a nice glass one at the carb.

I have thought about this for awhile adding a filter. I don't think it ever had one on it, as my Dad bought the truck new. I guess I was worried about messing up the originality! I have a NOS carter glass bowl I was thinking of putting right into the carb inlet.

I had a glass one just before the carb. They look way cooler than the plastic ones on an old engine.

That’s how I did it. Attached directly to the carburetor.

I installed one on my C60 along with a fuel pressure gauge. As my luck would have it, it sprung a leak. Fortunately for me I just happened to pull into my driveway when the truck went up in flames. I never smelt gas or had any signs of a leak. I was able to put the fire out but not before it burnt the top of my motor, melted my distributor, caught my air filter on fire, melted all the wiring under the hood, burnt through an air brake line and caused the paint to bubble (now flaking off). My lesson was to keep a fire extinguisher in the truck at all times from now on. If I would have been even a 1 minute ride down the road from my house I would have lost the truck.

I could see the smoke from my place. Man I'm sorry to hear about the fire, sounds like everything can be repaired.

Wow that's terrible, glad you were able to put it out! Are you saying I shouldn't put one on?

Yes it was all repairable and I had it fired up within a week. Then it for cold out and I parked her and haven't repaired the wiring or paint yet.
I'm not saying don't run one, by all means run one. Just don't put it on top of the motor, keep it down low.
