I'm not trying to be a smart guy.

Since the original was mounted below the floorboard I think the correct answer would be, "it depends on what brand/type/manufacturer master cylinder you wish to mount on the firewall". To me, modifying brakes and steering on these old trucks need to be done professionally or at minimum buy a kit from an established and well known parts provider. I don't want to be the one to give advice that could lead to someone getting harmed or sued.

You may want to position the pedal assembly where you like it and doesn't interfere with the gas pedal, steering column, or contours on the firewall. Then drill a reference hole to see where the master sits and reposition if it interferes with anything in the engine bay.

Just curious to why you are moving it up to the firewall?

Here is one from POL (Performance Online). Keep in mind that this is specific to their brake kit and may not work for yours:

Miracle,

I put one of these on my 55.2, had to modify it some for my specific application. Workmanship is poor, but it will work.

One can cut the cross shaft and use the pieces to move the pedal left or right and weld it back together if the fit isn’t perfect.

Your picture shows a hydrovac but a hydro boost fits too, tell them when you order it.
