Is there a trick to installing the manifolds without a helper? Everytime I think I have it something moves or the intake centering ring will pop out of place. I even entertained the idea of spot welding them in place which I quickly decided against, made me smile though.

You might want to mention make, year, model truck/engine/manifold?

The Manifold should hang on the two studs located at both ends.

As for the rings, gently expand them so there is a little spring pressure holding them into the manifold.

If it is a 216/235/261 manifold-assembly, I'll offer other suggestions.

This forum now states/supports 1916-1987 trucks (and, just about any engine).

One possible problem with 216/235/261 manifolds are the alignment rings being too "wide" due to the mating surfaces on the head and/or manifold-assembly having been "planed" for a flat-fit/match.

Try removing the alignment studs on both ends of the head and replacing them with 3/8" bolts a little over an inch long with the heads cut off. Once the manifold is installed, you can replace them with the short dowels if you cut a screwdriver slot in the short ones.

Make sure to just snug up the inter manifold bolts, tighten up the bolts to the head before tightening the inter manifold bolts, last.

You could try making new friends, also! The problem with that ides is finding anyone younger than 40 who wants to do manual labor, or hang out with an old geezer. All their "friends" seen to be on the social media platform this forum doesn't like! Good move, John- - - -I agree completely!
