Can any of you fine people recommend a paint for my Fenton duals (new)? I would prefer something that comes in an aerosol can because I'm not set up with a compressor and sprayer.

Thanks for your advice. I was hoping for a metallic silver though? Any other suggestions?

Jim, you use the stove wax on your Stutz too?

I'm told POR-15 sells a good quality header/manifold paint in silver. Haven't bought any myself yet (but likely will). Online at www.por15.com , see for yerself. It's brush-on, not spray-on.

However! Prep is more important than anything for high temp parts. Sandblasting is strongly recommended - even fingerprints on the part before painting can cause problems later on. The POR-15 can or literature may have other recommendations.

I'm with J.H.P. on this one with the Stove Black Wax, apply once a month, looks great, dirt cheap, I hit my steel toe work boots with it in a pinch.

Black stove wax? Never heard of it. What is it and where can I find it? I have used the POR-15 brush on silver on my Fentons and so far so good.

You can get stove wax at a real hardware store. I used the POR exhaust paint but missed one critical step, there is a time limit for how long you have before getting the manifold hot. I waited too long and have a rusty manifold. When I go with headers, I will probably get them powder coated. Expensive, but tough to beat.

Stutz is powder coated with some expensive stuff that looks like STOVE BLACK WAX.

I lost my can of wax...maybe I lent it to someone.Don't know

Phat told me he'd get me a can but that hasn't happened yet.

Rutland products(out of rutland VT) and they call it "RUTLAND Stove Polish" now .

I used VHT brand exhaust manifold paint on the cast-iron exhaust manifold of my '72 Chevy 250; it's kind of a stainless steel color.

So far it's holding up ok; you do have to really clean the part first, and thoroughly de-grease (Brake-kleen), and after the part dries to touch, your supposed to bake it at 500-600 degrees for at least an hour to "cure it".
(Don't try it in the kitchen, if you're married! No amount of scientific logic will convince the wife!)
I "cooked" mine in the gas grill.

This Rutland Stove black has me curious though...
