I installed that heater core in my '51 last summer. Been working great all winter, no issues at all. Pretty much an exact replica. I did break the motor down and lubed the bearing/bushings. Highly recommend this little bit of PM.
moparguy Did you just lube with oil or use something special,at a motor factory Ionce serviced they had their oilite bronze bushings in a special lube, a lot of those motors are still running after 30 years.
That "Donut" heater core from Jim Carter looks great. I paid over $300 to have my old one rebuilt and I do not even run my cooling system pressurized (0 psig). I remember obtaining the 12 VDC fan motor from Grainger which was a perfect fit. It works well and does not steam my windsheild. Good find dad8084!

True! I think even Montana has joined the rest of the lower 48 in that regard at least as related to vehicles and open containers. Hopefully still OK in the sanctity of one's shop. If not I'll just have to make sure Martin opens one
Bolters- Have heard a lot about heater troubles this winter/ If you put in air conditioning (old air) doesn't it give you a new modern heater right along with your cooling system !!

Yes, with variable fan/temp control and dehumidified defrost air on the Old Air unit.

I originally built my truck to look original so i kept the round recirculating heater because the heater box and gmc tag was mint with factory paint. I did put the new upgraded heater core in it from brassworks and it works great especially running at 199 degrees or hotter. I ended up wanting AC later and I figured I already invested in that nice heatercore so i was keeping it and that vintage air underdash setup looked period correct for the 50’s and into the 60’s so I used that and because it fit so well. Im very VERY happy with my setup. It blows 42 degrees all summer and it was a fairly easy setup and CHEAP for me to build.
Jon G Thanks for the reply,hope to put Old Air in my 51 6400 I think that big radiator might be pretty successful for that. Truck never offers to overheat in HOT weather now. 235 run of the mill insert brg. upgrade.
