Wondering if anyone has a Gm parts catalog that has any part number info for the bendix hydrovac 374000.1955 Chev 2 ton hydrovac.
Trying to track down one specific seal that originally used to be labeled a leather push rod seal. They have been replaced with rubber seals in rebuild kits. I've attached the hydrovac schematic the seal is labeled as #16 (Seal, push rod leather)
i have attempted to find a seal according to shaft and bore size although nothing has turned up yet. can't locate the seal I need. I know these seals are out there. But where !?
Maybe a bendix part number would get me closer to finding the seal?
leather was good enough for the original why not make one with leather scraps I find in situations like these that I usually make two or three by the time they turn out good Like pancakes the first is always a throwaway -s
I agree, an old leather belt and a new razor blade will get you there after a few tries. I have done a similar thing with the leather seal in an old WW2 bicycle pump (they usually were in the jeeps and motorcycles along side a patch kit)
62' GMC Fleetside 3/4 ton 235 4-speed. Time makes fools of us all.
Google Hydrovac rebuilders and see if they will sell you the part. Not to long ago someone here on the Bolt had the unit rebuilt and named the company, do a search and check them out.
Noonan There is an outfit in Evansville Indiana 2 guys who do nothing but brake boosters. I talked to one of them about one of my boosters and I think they might help.I would guess any of the big parts stores would know them, went there once for school bus drums it was wall to wall pallets of big drums.
Try these guys. Not sure if they will sell you the parts or want you to send them the unit to rebuild but would be worth a phone call. They relined all my shoes and did a great job.
I attached some pictures in case any one else needs to search this stuff out . All of the information in the attached pictures came from the link below.
