I ripped out all of my 47 GMC brake lines when I first picked her up and now it is time to replace them! Classic Parts and LMC only have brake line kits for half-ton short-beds and three quarter ton long-beds... unfortunately I'm working with half of each... a half-ton long-bed. Does anyone know if the three quarter long bed would have had the same brake lines as the half-ton long-bed? Thanks!

Not sure about the differences between the long bed and the 3/4 ton long bed but I have great success with Inline Tube for pre-made brake lines. https://www.inlinetube.com/?gclid=C...IBQoi2O4ws83pQOQY3bdR5pvL1hoCXGgQAvD_BwE

Tools are reasonably inexpensive. A good skill to learn, won’t have to wait on someone else. Cheap to replace if error made.

I always thought all half tons in the A-D series were 116 inch wheel base, all the same length box. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2001 Posts: 793 Bondo Artiste | | Bondo Artiste Joined: Jun 2001 Posts: 793 | I mostly agree with Ed, I’ve done my own brake lines. However there is a lot of trial and error with doing your own brake lines. Sometimes you have to decide what your time is worth verses buying a complete kit that’s ready to install.

Not hard to fab your own lines. Here's the link: Brake Line illustration The following pages have line lengths for various models and years.

They made a very nice set for my 1954 3104 Hydra-Matic. I sent them my lines - they wanted to keep them, because they had never seen them. Those SS brakes lines/fittings were an excellent fit. I used Permatex® Nickel Anti-Seize Lubricant. | | |
