Joined: Apr 2002 Posts: 2,168 | Howdy, On the LM7 (2002) it has a return line coming off the fuel rail back to the tank. I am getting ready to run fuel lines up to the rails from the tank. I will be installing a fuel filter between the tank and rail on the feed line line. My question is this: how exactly does the fuel regulator work? Vacuum off the intake? It runs it at 58 lbs, correct? I am curious because I don't want to install a frame mounted regulator/filter if I don't need it. | | | | Joined: Sep 2020 Posts: 40 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Sep 2020 Posts: 40 | The pressure regulator works off of intake manifold vacuum. Most LS swaps switch to a returnless system and use a C5 Corvette fuel filter/regulator to mimize long fuel line runs, but the return style works just fine.
Pressure is something like 48-50 PSI at idle. | | | | Joined: Apr 2002 Posts: 2,168 A teacher, but always an apprentice. | A teacher, but always an apprentice. I have the pump in tank already. | | | | Joined: Sep 2020 Posts: 40 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Sep 2020 Posts: 40 | I completely understand running what you already have. It sounds like it's going to work out just fine. | | | | Joined: Jul 2019 Posts: 541 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Jul 2019 Posts: 541 | Yes the regulator is just vac referenced from the manifold. They are a very simple setup. I have run both the older style return and returnless. Either will work fine but for a stretched performance setup you will always be able to make power on a return style setup. | | |
