What controls the stock vacuum wiper motor on a 1954 3100? I have the stock motor and control cable but can't see how to connect it to the wiper motor. Is there an external valve or something?

Yes, they help a lot. Looks like someone replaced the original motor with something else.

That is correct

The change allows for the different design of the 1954/1955st dash compared to earlier years. I think the location/shape of the the radio/speaker, in particular.

Chevy did offer a 6 volt electric as an option. They are as rare as a fertile dinosaur egg but are out there. Once in a while see one appear on ebay but they do not last long. I have had them over the years but sell as fast as I get them

You can say/post that again, triplet laalaa (you double-posted)

this eBay seller has one left (he already sold two).

Try a Google search on "1954 Chevrolet truck 6v electric wiper"
(the word G-o-o-g-l-e will not display correctly embedded here - "websearch" gets substituted).

There are lot shown - if they are still available (be sure to check for 6v or 12v - to match your system).

I checked out the ebay link you posted . That is a retrofit using a new style motor. That is not the original wiper that Chevy offered in 54 . This ebay seller probably has as many as he wants to order or put together . The real deal original is much harder to find.

Electric wiper motors the pickups was first offered for an option in 54 . Prior to that only vacuum was available. In the last 40 years I think I have had less than a 1/2 dozen off them. 1 in the last 10 years . 0 in the last 5 as most of the old yards have went away. I think they cost about $30.00 as an option in 54 which was quite a bit of money. So not a lot of trucks were offered with it.. So when you figure attrition , trucks getting crushed , etc , they hardly ever appear. Rare indeed.

That 1954/55st optional electric motor wiper could also work with the optional/accessory foot-pedal-operated windshield washer.

Hopefully this page loads . This parts book is from the 60's . Must have been inflation . Hah Or was the $10.35 installation price. I think in 58 and 59 the parts book shows an installation price seperate from the price of the motor.

Must have been a big price jump to 1963 where they were $32.00 . So is Delivery and Handling the same as installation cost? I am not seeing the installation column. Or is that if your ordered one from GM the cost to get it to the dealer?

Remember this one is an option not an accessory, options are installed at the factory or prior to delivery.

I'm posting this for information in case someone wants the 320 option.
I think 2 of the attached pictures belongs to Brad. Thanks Brad.
One of these wipers showed up on evil bay for $95 and it included the dash bracket.
I linked it at "eBay and Craiglists Links".
2 days later it was sold.
I couldn't bring my self to drill two holes in a perfectly good dash....big grin.
