For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: May 2007 Posts: 3 Junior Member | | Junior Member Joined: May 2007 Posts: 3 | Hey everyone i just bought a 53 3100 and i have a 1996 frame and was wondering if i could swap them. I have read about s10 swaps but it looks like everyone is using the old style frame. Let me know if it can be used. It would save me sooooo much time if it can. Thanks. | | | | | | Anonymous Unregistered | | Anonymous Unregistered | Welcome to the bolt. One of the great features available is the search feature shown at the top right of the page. Try it and you should find what you need. As I recall the later chassis presents a problem with setting up the ABS brakes. As mentioned earlier, the AD-Engineering site offers additional information on what works best. | | | | | Joined: May 2007 Posts: 3 Junior Member | | Junior Member Joined: May 2007 Posts: 3 | thanks everyone for the info what year model should i use then. | | | | | Joined: Apr 2007 Posts: 13 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Apr 2007 Posts: 13 | According to Ad-Engineering: Q: What is the best year S10 frame to use? A: The S10 frames are very similar. We have customers using frames as early as 1982 to as late as 2002. My preference in frames has evolved to include the later model frames that have the parking brake cables both routed down the drivers side. This makes it much easier to adapt to the stock AD truck park brake pedal. I purchased the conversion kit from AD-Engineering and placed it on a 83 single cab long bed S-10. I'm planning on transfering the cab from my 51 over to the S-10 in the next few weeks (depending on work schedule). I live in Seale Al. just north of Eufaula. My truck is at a friends shop in Phenix City. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2012 Posts: 1 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Dec 2012 Posts: 1 | Did you ever get your truck done? | | |
