From what I've heard about the 250, if it's tuned properly you should be happy with it. You can wake them up with some upgrades, but as with anything, it all depends how much you want to spend on it.

You stated in an earlier post that there was a way to swap a 305e to a SBC 350 in a 1966 k1000 with a Sm 420 tranny but the bell housing was rare and expensive. Can you tell me what bell housing to use and what model truck it was used in

Billypylot | | | | | Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,742 Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) | | Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,742 | The bellhousing I'm thinking of has the clutch throwout fork window on the passenger's side, and is used with the hydraulic master cylinder that combines brake and clutch functions in the same casting. I'm not sure that it was used as late as 1966. Does your 305 have a hydraulic clutch? That's the only V8 bell housing I can remember that was used with hydraulic linkage. If you have a regular manual clutch setup, any cast iron V8 bellhousing from the mid 1970's with the angled motor mounts should mate the transmission to the engine. You might have to get creative with some custom clutch linkage.

The 1963-1972 C10 trucks have the fork on the driver side and they have a mechanical linkage. You may find that info helpful in your search. | | |
