I am taking the drums to O'Reilly's to get them turned. Do I have to remove the hubs to get them turned? If I do do I have to pound out the studs? I finally removed the races from the old outer bearings and replacing them. I bought a brake kit from Chevs of the 40's. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'd rather have a drum spin concentric to the bearings it will spend its life spinning on, than possibly lining up centered through the axle hole or stud holes on some brake lathe. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,271 Renaissance Man | | Renaissance Man Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,271 | Make are to thoroughly clean all of the old grease out of the hubs before you reassemble to avoid running bits of metal in your new bearings.

That also applies to disc brake rotors with integral bearing races. If the guy running the machine doesn't know that, RUN do not walk away!
