on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jan 2020 Posts: 68 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2020 Posts: 68 | I have a 1950 3100 with a 261 in it. It is a 12 volt system with a single 1 barrel carb. Sometimes when I turn it off it keeps running for a few seconds. I noticed that it doesn't do this when I have the A/C compressor on. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Slow the idle speed adjustment down. If that doesn't solve it install an idle speed solenoid like Panic says.

Go a little richer on the idle mixture screw (counterclockwise), and turn the speed down so you can almost count the fan blades as they turn. Unless you've got a radical camshaft and/or a vacuum leak, the engine should idle down to less than 500 RPM. Jerry
