I want a box that the steering shaft fits thru the side of the frame like the original. Any and all advise is appreciated. I don't think you'll find a recent steering box that is anything approaching the configuration of your original box.

It will bolt a '37, I assume the '36 is the same, anyway it has ball bearing rollers inside so it steers a lot easyer then the early boxes.
