Hello, I am installing an LS engine and a 4L60E transmission in a 1951 3100. I am also upgrading the brake booster since I now have disk brakes all around. The brake booster from Speedway has a 7” diaphragm so I am concerned that I will have a clearance issue with the transmission. Has anybody installed this configuration with success?

I have done this on my 51, 3100. I have a 5.3 LS and a 6L80E transmission. There are no interference issues with the transmission, M/C and booster, although there is not a lot of real estate for the exhaust. The exhaust runs pretty close to the inboard side of the M/C. I’d attach some pictures but I’ve disassembled the truck as it heads to the body shop next month.

My truck has not been driven yet, so I can’t give any feedback on operation.

If exhaust runs close to MC, it would be well to put some kind of sheet metal heat shield to keep from cooking the brake fluid.

'37 GMC T-18 w/ DD 4-53T, RTO-610, 6231 aux., '95 GMC running gear, full disc brakes, power steering, 22.5 wheels and tires.
'47 GMC 1 ton w/ 302, NP-540, 4wd, full width Blazer front axle.
'54 GMC 630 w/ 503 gasser, 5 speed, ex fire truck, shortened WB 4', install 8' bed.
'55 GMC 370 w/270, 420 4 speed, grain, dump bed truck from ND. Works OK.
