I have 1954 Chevy truck that I recently removed engine because of bad mains, and am replacing with used 235 out of a 59 truck, I bought a new front motor mount and have engine in truck but can’t get balancer all the way on as it is hitting motor mount shield,it’s like my pulley is to large.wondering if shield is not on right or I need balancer with smaller pulley

It shouldn't be doing that. Is there any way you could send an image of this?

Are you trying to use the balancer for the 54 or the 59? The 59 has a much larger diameter balancer, and it might not work well with the 54 engine mount. You're also going to find that the water pump on the 59 engine sits too low on the 54 radiator to work well, the pump shaft is too long, and the pump must be modified before the fan will clear the radiator. There's an adapter plate made to allow you to use the 54 balancer and water pump on the 59 engine and get everything aligned properly. Make 3 more forum posts so you will have access to the private message feature of this site and send forum member "Pre-68 Dave" a message, He makes and sells the adapter plates.
